Modesto Fire Department responds to multiple fires, causing $1.4M loss.

In Modesto, California, the Modesto Fire Department, along with partner agencies Stanislaus Consolidated Fire District and Turlock City Fire, responded to multiple structure and vegetation fires overnight. A total of 316 calls were dispatched to the agencies from July 4th to July 5th. The biggest incident was a four-alarm fire on Terminal Avenue in Modesto, which affected four houses, with one under construction being destroyed.

Firefighters from as far as Oakdale and Turlock were called in to help control the fires due to the intensity of the situation. Two occupants were evaluated on the scene but declined hospital transportation, while a total of 9 people were displaced. The American Red Cross is aiding some of the displaced residents. Thankfully, no firefighters were injured during the operation.

The fire, which caused an estimated loss of $1.4 million, is currently under investigation by the Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit. The three houses affected by the fire are deemed uninhabitable as a result.
